without having to change most of the source, it'ld be possible to implement some sort of storage-converter; instead leading mongoose directly to the mongodb-drive, redirect the output/orders to a middleware/storage-converter; especially NoSQL engines (GCloud Datastore - in my case :D) won't need much configuration at all.
